Clonezilla is a partition and disk imaging/cloning program similar to True Image®. It saves and restores only used blocks in hard drive. Two types of Clonezilla are available, Clonezilla live and Clonezilla SE (Server Edition).

OpenMediaVault is the next generation network attached storage (NAS) solution based on Debian Linux. It contains services like SSH, (S)FTP, SMB/CIFS, DAAP media server, RSync, BitTorrent client and many more. Thanks to the modular design of the framework it can be enhanced via plugins. OpenMediaVault is primarily designed to be used in home environments or small home offices, but is not limited to those scenarios. It is a simple and easy to use out-of-the-box solution that will allow everyone to install and administrate a Network Attached Storage without deeper knowledge.

Usm is a unified slackware package manager that handles automatic dependency resolution. It unifies various package repositories including slackware, slacky, ponce, salix and alien. It also supports slackbuilds.org and will build from source.

FOG is a free open-source cloning/imaging solution/rescue suite. FOG can be used to image Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Window 8 PCs using PXE, PartClone, and a Web GUI to tie it together. Includes featues like memory and disk test, disk wipe, av scan & task scheduling.

The aoetools are programs for users of the ATA over Ethernet (AoE) network storage protocol, a simple protocol for using storage over an ethernet LAN. The vblade program (storage target) exports a block device using AoE.

SystemImager is software that makes the installation of Linux to masses of similar machines relatively easy. It makes software distribution, configuration, and operating system updates easy, and can also be used for content distribution.

mac-cleanup is a cleanup script for macOS.

A self-extracting archiving tool for Unix systems, in 100% shell script. makeself.sh is a small shell script that generates a self-extractable compressed tar archive from a directory. The resulting file appears as a shell script (many of those have a .run suffix), and can be launched as is. The archive will then uncompress itself to a temporary directory and an optional arbitrary command will be executed (for example an installation script). This is pretty similar to archives generated with WinZip Self-Extractor in the Windows world. Makeself archives also include checksums for integrity self-validation (CRC and/or MD5/SHA256 checksums).

The littleutils include duplicate file finders (repeats, repeats.pl, repeats.py), image optimizers (opt-jpg, opt-png, opt-gif, recomp-jpg), file rename tools (lowercase, uppercase, pren), archive recompressors (to-gzip, to-bzip2, to-bzip3, to-7zip, to-lzma, to-lzip, to-xz), a tempfile utility (tempname), file property tools (filedate, filemode, filenode, fileown, filesize, and lrealpath), and others. m23 is a free software distribution system (license: GPL), that installs (via network, starting with partitioning and formatting) and administrates (updates, adds / removes software, adds / removes scripts) clients with Debian, (X/K)Ubuntu and LinuxMint. It is used for deployment of Linux clients in schools, institutions and enterprises. The m23 server is controlled via a web interface. A new m23 client can be installed easily in only three steps. Group functions and mass installation tools make managing a vast number of clients comfortable. The integration of existing clients (with .deb-based distributions) into the system is possible, too. Client backup and server backup are included to avoid data loss. With the integrated virtualisation software, m23 can create and manage virtual m23 clients, that run on real m23 clients or the m23 server. Scripts and software packages (for installation on clients) can be created directly from the m23 web interface.

KBackup is an easy-to-use backup package for Unix. It was originally writen by Karsten Balluder. Currently, it's development has stagnated, and several fixes are needed. The main mailing-list for KBackup is in egroups (www.egroups.com).

A project to provide change control for OpenDocument files via subversion under Unix. Can check in internal changes in files and allows users to recover any previous version, view logs and compare with older versions.

LiveBackup is a framework to create bootable live-images out of Linux root-filesystems. Various technologies are supported, i.e. squashfs, unionfs, aufs, network-boot.. It's main intention is to save an individual configured linux-distribution as LiveCD

Make CD-ROM Recovery (mkCDrec) makes a bootable (El Torito) disaster recovery image, including backups of the linux system to the same CD-ROM if space permits, or to a multi-volume CD-ROM set. Be aware: ----------- Please use "Relax-and-Recover"(ReaR - https://relax-and-recover.org) instead of mkCDrec. mkCDrec is an "abandoned project".

RPM Package Manager (RPM) is a powerful package management system capable of installing, uninstalling, verifying, querying, and updating software packages. This is a port of the RPM software, including rpmbuild and yum/APT-RPM, to Darwin and Mac OS X

snap2 is a powerful rsync-based backup program (shell script) for Linux desktop PCs. It has a user-friendly GUI. It creates automatically-rotating 'snapshot' backups, or a mirror backup. It can also be run non-interactively, via cron.

The Personal Backup Appliance is a VMware virtual appliance that can clone, backup, and restore your hard disk over the network. Our goal is to provide an open-source bare-metal backup and restore utility that is powerful, simple and easy to use.

The project provides a script which permits to generate automatically a small rescue system for Linux (boot floppy, CDROM, ZIP or tftpboot configuration). All usal Linux console commands are available. Only hard disk and network drivers are supported.
